Trade in Mesopotamia
The People of Mesopotamia didn't have any natural resources so they had to trade with neighboring countries to acquire resources to live. Mesopotamian's had different ways of transporting goods, for example: if they were transporting grains it would be quite bulky so they would have used a small boat but if they were transporting precious stones that were quite small then they would carry it by foot or by donkey. They imported goods such as timber, hard building stone and precious metals. From about 3000 BC they also started to import tin, which was mixed with copper to make bronze for tools, weapons and ornaments. The trading route stretched to and from Sumer across seas, river and desert trails. Whenever a trading caravan or a trading ship arrived there would always be a celebration!
